“Little Black Dress”

I have a slight obsession with leather.  If I am shopping and my eye catches a piece of clothing with leather on it, I automatically assume I am going to love it.  Everyone needs a “little black dress” in their closet, I just happen to need a leather one to add to the mix.

Leather can make an outfit appear more edgy, creating a casual effect.  On the flip-side, leather can also add just the amount of shine needed to take an outfit from casual to formal.  In this outfit, I have taken leather and added suede boots and a wool hat to contrast with the shiny finish.  I have also added a pattern with the jacket to create a bit more interest in the ensemble.  Lastly, I added large earrings to polish the look.

So, if you are hesitant to wear leather, try finding a dress with a bit of leather and then pair it with other more matte finishes to soften the look.  Be brave, you’ll love it!

My outfit this week is inspired by my “on the go” schedule this year.  I want to feel professional, comfortable, and stylish at the same time.  This look accomplishes this goal with my necessities in mind.  Necessities include:

  • Laptop carrier/backpack helps me have everything I need a various locations in one place.  It even has a padded interior to keep my iPad and laptop safe.  Plus, it has room for my binders and books needed.  I feel cute and stylish wearing this backpack which is a must!

  •    Jord watch to make sure I am on time for everything.  In addition, it is fun to look at throughout the day.

  • 4EurSole boots are a must when I know I will be on my feet all day.  They are extremely supportive and comfortable, hugging my feet in all the right places.  I find myself planning my outfits around these boots (a bit obsessed!)

Dress Me in Aztec

I love adding color to an outfit, even in the fall and winter.  One of my favorite ways to add a pop of color during the cooler months is adding coordinating tights!  Have you seen the movie “Me Before You”?  Her tights are amazing, she wears colored tights with every outfit and which makes her style so unique and fun!  I bought this dress on Zulily and thought it would be perfect paired with red tights, tan booties, and gold hoop earrings.  To perfect this outfit, I added my Jord Wood Watch (enter our giveaway HERE), I love how it all came together! Black and Blue

When I first heard the word “blazer”, I was thinking of a vehicle that could carry many children back and forth to various events.  Luckily, I found out the fashion definition for blazer very quickly: a lightweight jacket, typically solid-colored that can be worn both formally and semi-formally.  This fall and winter season I have added some solid-colored blazers to my wardrobe.  Blazers are perfect for people like me that like to change summer and spring attire into fall and winter attire.  There isn’t enough dough in my pocket to buy a new wardrobe each season so I must utilize what I have.  Adding some overlaying neutral pieces (like my blazers, cardigans, etc.) has helped me in making my wardrobe last throughout the year.
I love color and who says you can’t add some outfits with color throughout the fall and winter?  It changes things up a bit and is appealing to the eye during these cold months.  Try adding a few pops of color with some neutral pieces for the fall/winter time.
