Summer Shimmer Eyes


In the Summer I love to wear makeup with a shimmer in it. Okay, I’ll be honest, I love shimmer makeup all year round. Here are some quick and easy steps to follow to have shimmery, sparkly eyes for the Summertime using my go to shimmer eye-shadows that I absolutely adore!

Step 1: Apply a concealer on entire eyelid


Step 2: Take the eye-brush and smear the TIGI pallet golden shimmer eyeshadow across the entire eyelid


Step 3: Using the narrow eye-brush and Maybelline Champagne eyeshadow, smear a triangular shape working from the inner corner of the upper lid up towards the brow line


Step 4: Using the narrow eye-brush and Maybelline Champagne eyeshadow, start at the lower tear duct and work your way to the middle of the lower lash line


Step 5: Apply eyeliner (for Summer to prevent smudging I use Maybelline gel eyeliner) and mascara


Step 6: Using a narrow eye-brush smear that same eyeshadow used in step 2 from the outer bottom tear-line toward the tear duct.

Reducing Muscle Soreness

I remember my first time going to the gym with my super fit cousin Shanda. I had gone to the gym many times before, wandering around, using an easy looking machine here and there not knowing what the heck I was doing.  I would always feel out of place and pretty stupid. Because I didn’t want to make a fool of myself, I would end up doing my cardio on a treadmill or elliptical and call it good for the day. So, it was a memorable moment when Shanda showed and taught me how to complete a “real” gym workout with her. We worked legs and I wanted to show her I was super tough and not a wuss. So, I did everything full out with weights and all, granted I had zero experience with completing a full workout. I’m sure you can infer what happened the next day when I woke up and tried climbing out of bed… I nearly could not walk!

After completing our Summer Booty Camp week, our muscles were pretty sore. We know some participants felt the same way, so I thought it would be helpful and fun to give you a list of my favs for sore muscle relief!

My Go To List for Sore Muscle Relief:

  1. Soaking in a warm bubble bath
  2. Soaking in a warm bath with 1-2 cups of Epsom Salt
  3. Rubbing a mixture of coconut oil (had to throw it in here) and peppermint oil on the sore muscle
  4. Magnesium supplement daily
  5. Eating foods rich in Magnesium
  6. A massage with essential oils (I make my hubby give me the massage first and promise to give him one after. NOTE: Must do in that order, if reversed, hubby will pass out asleep and bye bye to your massage??)
  7. Stretching
  8. Cardio/being active even though you don’t want to get off the couch, or should I say can’t get off the couch due to soreness?
  9. Yoga
  10. 1-2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a 8 oz glass of water

Accessorize Your Swimsuit

Swimsuits are a fashion statement within themselves, but adding accessories to a swimsuit helps you go from looking good at the pool or beach to looking glamorous!  So, here’s some ideas on how to add some umph to your suit this season:


Sun Hat

Perfect way to “posh” up your outfit and protect your face from the sun.



Sunglasses are the perfect easy swimsuit addition.  They can be worn in or out of the pool, not to mention your optometrist will thank you!



I haven’t thought of wearing a necklace with a swimsuit until I was wearing this exact necklace when I tried this swimsuit on at the store and thought, these are darling together!



Hoops, studs, dangles, you name it; any type of earrings can make a swimsuit a fashion statement.


Cover Ups

A Kimono

Kimonos cover you up while still showing off your suit.  They are also lightweight and offer protection from the sun.


Lace Cover Up

Lace is wonderful for hot weather because it’s breathable.  You can show off your swimsuit while feeling a bit covered.


Cotton Cover Up

Cotton cover ups are nice because they completely cover you up (hence “cover up”) but are still breathable.  Plus, cotton dries quickly.

Tank Top and Shorts

This is my favorite way to cover my swimsuit up when I just want to be comfy.  Patterned shorts add a bit of a fun Summer-like feel to the outfit.




Although many of us wear flip flops to the pool, sandals make a swimsuit look a bit more trendy.



Although I would probably trip and fall into the pool with these on, they dress a poolside outfit up making you look ready for the splash-zone runway.

Beach Hair Don’t Care

My little family and I took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  My mom is from South Carolina so we went with a few family members to enjoy some much-needed beach time.  As I have been here, I have found that between the humidity and salt water my hair is a frizz fest!  So, I decided to embrace the frizz and create a beach “do” with this unmanageable mess of hair.




  • Step 1: Section off hair from behind the ear forward
  • Step 2: Put hair behind the ear into a loose ponytail to hold temporarily.
  • Step 3: French braid (right-side or upside down) the front section from ear, around the hairline, to behind the other ear. Secure with a hair elastic.

  • Step 4: French braid (right-side or upside down) the back section of the hair starting at the top of the left side and working around the nape of the head to the other side (creating a diagonal braid).

  • Step 5: Once you come to the previous braid, take out the elastic and bring that braid into one section of the current braid.
  • Step 6: Take the three sections and braid them into a side braid. Secure with an elastic.

When the hair gets wet at the pool or beach, keep it in the braid or allow it to dry a bit and take the diagonal braid in the back out, leaving the front braid in for a flirty, fun, beach wave-like style!

Fringe and Floral

I have found my new “go to boutique!”  Big Bratt Boutique is on Spanish Fork Main Street and I have fallen in love with their clothing, jewelry, and shoes!  I won my husband in a bet and that earned me a $100 shopping spree!  My “Fringe Floral” look from head to toe cost me around $80.00.  So, I just had to buy some darling platform open-toed shoes to use up my $100 (you’ll see these sexy thangs soon).  I couldn’t be more pleased with my getup.  I love how the fringe sandals have a slight heel because I feel “dressed up” while wearing them.  I’ve already gotten lots of compliments on my floral T-shirt and it is extremely comfy (like wearing pajamas)!

Our Summer Shish Kabobs Recipe

Oh man, walking outside on a warm Summer evening smelling the neighbors’ barbecues fired up and cooking something yummy makes me salivate like a hunting dog ready to catch his next prey. The delicious aroma that comes from someone’s backyard grill is even better than the restaurant grills/chimneys that are purposely sending out scents meant to draw you in to dine with them because their food smells so heavenly. I love barbecuing in the Summer time! With July 4th coming up, there will be a ton of Americans firing up the grills. If this includes you, we have got a Shish Kabob recipe that will knock your guests’ socks off!

Our Summer Shish Kabob Recipe:





Grocery List:

  1. 25 skewers
  2. 1 bell pepper
  3. 1 red pepper
  4. 1 yellow pepper
  5. 1 onion
  6. 1 box mushrooms
  7. 1/2 pineapple (optional)
  8. 2 large chicken breasts
  9. 2 large slabs of steak of choice (I used sirloin and buffalo)
  10. McCormick Mesquite Marinade

*Amounts vary based on how many people you are serving.


  1. Cut thawed chicken and steak into 1 inch chunks and place in separate bowls.
  2. Mix McCormick Mesquite Marinade according to pack directions and pour over chicken and steak. Place in refrigerator to marinade. (This can be done an hour before cooking time to allow marinade to soak into the meat).
  3. Chop up all the vegetables in 1 inch chunks
  4. Place meat and veggies in a random order or a pattern on skewers
  5. Lay skewers on a cookie sheet and brush with olive oil
  6. Sprinkle skewers with garlic salt and onion powder
  7. Place on grill and cook thoroughly
  8. Enjoy!

Polished Pearls Booty Camp- ABS, CARDIO, YOGA or STRETCHING

It is our last day of The Polished Pearls Summer Booty Camp (sad)!  We hope you have enjoyed our workouts.  If you liked them, we challenge you to take a photo of you now and keep these workouts up for six weeks.  After the six weeks, take another photo in the same outfit and see how much your body has toned up.  It is always fun and motivating to see before and after photos.  Sometimes I don’t notice the small changes my body is making until there has been a span of time and I have photos I can look at.

Today, we want you to focus on giving your muscles a rest from resistance training (well, all but your abs).  In order to complete our last workout for our Summer Booty Camp you need to do our 10 Killer Abs Workout, 20-30 minutes of cardio (Cardio Ideas and Running Change Up), and either yoga or stretching for 15-20 minutes.
